At the time I had the Jack Lawrence song in my head so this is as close as a translation I could figure into Italian. Somewhere is a little town in the Italian region of Liguria, called Manarola, where these traditional wooden fishing boats are common. You\u2019ll see similar throughout many small Mediterranean ports. Wonderfully colourful, my depiction of this yellow wooden fishing boat is a spectacular sight against the jade colour of the water.<\/p>\n<p>I wanted the viewer to feel the sea breeze and taste the salty air. To imagine walking the shoreline in some far away village. I chose to create this in a vintage travel poster style, no fuss.\u00a0 Simple lines and composition. The simplicity of the work is reflective of the simple life that the fisherman lead. How lucky they are to work where there is beautiful clear water and endless warm sunshine. I love the contrast of the bright yellow with those cool marine blues and greens.<\/p>\n<p>I completed this oil on canvas work with varnish and is framed in distressed white washed timber to finish the Mediterranean look.
